T-8.IV:The Gift of Freedom

1. 1If God’s Will for you is complete peace and joy, unless you experience only this you must be refusing to acknowledge His Will. 2His Will does not vacillate, being changeless forever. 3When you are not at peace it can only be because you do not believe you are in Him. 4Yet He is All in all. 5His peace is complete, and you must be included in it. 6His laws govern you because they govern everything. 7You cannot exempt yourself from His laws, although you can disobey them. 8Yet if you do, and only if you do, you will feel lonely and helpless, because you are denying yourself everything.

2. 1I am come as a light into a world that does deny itself everything. 2It does this simply by dissociating itself from everything. 3It is therefore an illusion of isolation, maintained by fear of the same loneliness that is its illusion. 4I said that I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. 5That is why I am the light of the world. 6If I am with you in the loneliness of the world, the loneliness is gone. 7You cannot maintain the illusion of loneliness if you are not alone. 8My purpose, then, is still to overcome the world. 9I do not attack it, but my light must dispel it because of what it is. 10Light does not attack darkness, but it does shine it away. 11If my light goes with you everywhere, you shine it away with me. 12The light becomes ours, and you cannot abide in darkness any more than darkness can abide wherever you go. 13The remembrance of me is the remembrance of yourself, and of Him Who sent me to you.

3. 1You were in darkness until God’s Will was done completely by any part of the Sonship. 2When this was done, it was perfectly accomplished by all. 3How else could it be perfectly accomplished? 4My mission was simply to unite the will of the Sonship with the Will of the Father by being aware of the Father’s Will myself. 5This is the awareness I came to give you, and your problem in accepting it is the problem of this world. 6Dispelling it is salvation, and in this sense I am the salvation of the world. 7The world must therefore despise and reject me, because the world is the belief that love is impossible. 8If you will accept the fact that I am with you, you are denying the world and accepting God. 9My will is His, and your decision to hear me is the decision to hear His Voice and abide in His Will. 10As God sent me to you so will I send you to others. 11And I will go to them with you, so we can teach them peace and union.

4. 1Do you not think the world needs peace as much as you do? 2Do you not want to give it to the world as much as you want to receive it? 3For unless you do, you will not receive it. 4If you want to have it of me, you must give it. 5Healing does not come from anyone else. 6You must accept guidance from within. 7The guidance must be what you want, or it will be meaningless to you. 8That is why healing is a collaborative venture. 9I can tell you what to do, but you must collaborate by believing that I know what you should do. 10Only then will your mind choose to follow me. 11Without this choice you could not be healed because you would have decided against healing, and this rejection of my decision for you makes healing impossible.

5. 1Healing reflects our joint will. 2This is obvious when you consider what healing is for. 3Healing is the way in which the separation is overcome. 4Separation is overcome by union. 5It cannot be overcome by separating. 6The decision to unite must be unequivocal, or the mind itself is divided and not whole. 7Your mind is the means by which you determine your own condition, because mind is the mechanism of decision. 8It is the power by which you separate or join, and experience pain or joy accordingly. 9My decision cannot overcome yours, because yours is as powerful as mine. 10If it were not so the Sons of God would be unequal. 11All things are possible through our joint decision, but mine alone cannot help you. 12Your will is as free as mine, and God Himself would not go against it. 13I cannot will what God does not will. 14I can offer my strength to make yours invincible, but I cannot oppose your decision without competing with it and thereby violating God’s Will for you.

6. 1Nothing God created can oppose your decision, as nothing God created can oppose His Will. 2God gave your will its power, which I can only acknowledge in honor of His. 3If you want to be like me I will help you, knowing that we are alike. 4If you want to be different, I will wait until you change your mind. 5I can teach you, but only you can choose to listen to my teaching. 6How else can it be, if God’s Kingdom is freedom? 7Freedom cannot be learned by tyranny of any kind, and the perfect equality of all God’s Sons cannot be recognized through the dominion of one mind over another. 8God’s Sons are equal in will, all being the Will of their Father. 9This is the only lesson I came to teach.

7. 1If your will were not mine it would not be our Father’s. 2This would mean you have imprisoned yours, and have not let it be free. 3Of yourself you can do nothing, because of yourself you are nothing. 4I am nothing without the Father and you are nothing without me, because by denying the Father you deny yourself. 5I will always remember you, and in my remembrance of you lies your remembrance of yourself. 6In our remembrance of each other lies our remembrance of God. 7And in this remembrance lies your freedom because your freedom is in Him. 8Join, then, with me in praise of Him and you whom He created. 9This is our gift of gratitude to Him, which He will share with all His creations, to whom He gives equally whatever is acceptable to Him. 10Because it is acceptable to Him it is the gift of freedom, which is His Will for all His Sons. 11By offering freedom you will be free.

8. 1Freedom is the only gift you can offer to God’s Sons, being an acknowledgment of what they are and what He is. 2Freedom is creation, because it is love. 3Whom you seek to imprison you do not love. 4Therefore, when you seek to imprison anyone, including yourself, you do not love him and you cannot identify with him. 5When you imprison yourself you are losing sight of your true identification with me and with the Father. 6Your identification is with the Father and with the Son. 7It cannot be with One and not the Other. 8If you are part of One you must be part of the Other, because They are One. 9The Holy Trinity is holy because It is One. 10If you exclude yourself from this union, you are perceiving the Holy Trinity as separated. 11You must be included in It, because It is everything. 12Unless you take your place in It and fulfill your function as part of It, the Holy Trinity is as bereft as you are. 13No part of It can be imprisoned if Its truth is to be known.

1. 上主的旨意既要你活得彻底平安喜悦，除非平安喜悦成了你唯一的生活体验，否则就表示你已拒绝了上主的旨意。
祂的旨意屹立不摇，而且千古不易。
你若体验不到这一平安，只有一种可能，即你不相信自己活在上主内。
然而，祂是一切万有。
祂的平安亦圆满无缺，因此你必然涵摄其中。
你在天律的管辖之下，因为上主之律统辖一切。
纵使你能违抗天律，却无法逍遥于祂的法外。
纵使如此，也唯独如此，你才会感到孤独无助，因为你等于自绝于一切之外。
2. “我之本体”有如光明进入这“自绝于一切万有之外”的世界。
世界会沦落到这个地步，只因它与一切万有断绝了关系。
因此，它最多只能给你一个孤独的幻相，而害怕孤独的幻觉愈强，孤立感就愈深。
我说了，我时时与你们同在，直到世界终结。
为此之故，我成了世界之光。
在这孤独的世界里，既有我与你同在，孤独就不复存在。
你既不曾落单，那孤立的幻相便难以为继。
我虽有克服世界的使命，
但我从不发动攻击，我的光明所到之处，世界必然知难而退，这是基于世界的存在本质之故。
光明从不攻击黑暗，但它的光辉确实能驱逐黑暗。
我的光明若随时随地与你同行，你就能与我一同驱逐所有的黑暗。
这光明成了我们的光明，你再也不会活在黑暗之中了，黑暗再也无法逗留在你身边。
你只要忆起我来，等于忆起了自己的真相，最后终将忆起派遣我来到世界的那一位。
3. 在圣子奥体任何一部分完成上主旨意之前，你始终活在黑暗之中。
直到那一部分完成这一旨意，整个奥体才算圆满成就。
除此之外，还有什么其他圆满成就的途径？
我的使命不过是觉醒于天父的旨意，才能将圣子奥体与天父的旨意结合为一。
我来到世界所要给你的正是这一觉知，而你却感到难以消受，使得世界也无福消受。
一旦突破这一障碍，救恩便来临了，为此之故，我确实堪称为世界的救恩。
也为此之故，世界必会藐视我、排斥我，因为世界坚信爱是不可能存在的。
只要你接受了我与你同在的事实，这无异否认了世界而接受了上主。
我的意旨就是祂的旨意，你决定听从我的话，等于决定听从祂的天音并活出祂的旨意。
上主派遣我到你这儿来，我也同样将你派遣到别人那儿去。
让我们一起迎向他们，才能教他们平安与合一之道。
4. 你难道看不出世界和你一样需要平安？
你难道不愿把自己想要的平安分享给世界？
除非你给出去，否则你不可能得到。
你若想由我这儿获得，便必须先给出去。
疗愈无法来自他人，
你只能从自己内在接受指引。
而且必须全心渴望那一指引才行，否则它对你就显不出任何意义。
为此之故，疗愈原是一趟“联袂探险”的旅程。
我会告诉你该做什么，可是你必须跟我配合，并且相信我知道你该做什么。
唯有如此，你的心灵才可能作出“跟随我”的选择。
缺了这个抉择，你是不可能疗愈的，因为你一定会抵制疗愈；这等于抵制我为你作的决定，使得疗愈不得其门而入。
5. 疗愈不过反映了我们的共同愿力。
这是理所当然的，只要你深思一下疗愈的宗旨。
疗愈乃是克服分裂之途。
唯有合一方能克服分裂。
分裂是无法克服分裂的。
合一的决心不能模棱两可，否则心灵便会分崩离析而失其完整性。
你当前的处境是出自你的选择，靠的就是心灵的决定能力。
你能把这能力用在分裂或合一上，因而经验到痛苦或喜悦的不同结果。
我的决定无法压过你的决定，因为你我的决定都同样强而有力。
若非如此，上主儿女之间便没有平等可言了。
透过我们的联合决定，没有做不到的事；单靠我的决定，对你并没有什么帮助。
你的意志与我的意志一样自由，连上主都不会违逆你的意志。
非上主所愿之事，我是无法一厢情愿的。
我只能给你我的力量，使你的意志所向无敌，但我无法推翻你的决定，否则就等于与你的意志较劲，这会冒犯上主对你的旨意。
6. 没有一个受造物能够推翻你的决定，这与没有一个受造物能够推翻上主的旨意是同样的道理。
意志力是上主赐你的礼物，我只能尊重祂的旨意，接受你的意愿。
你若有心效法我，我必会助你一臂之力，因为我知道我们原是一样的。
如果你存心与我不同，我只好等待，直到你改变心态为止。
我能够教导你，但听从与否完全操之于你。
除此之外，我还能如何？因为天国即是自由。
你无法从专制作风学到自由真谛的，只要有一个心灵强势地操控另一个心灵，你便难以认出圣子之间完美的平等性。
上主儿女的意愿具有同等的重要性，因它们全代表了天父的旨意。
这正是我来到世上所要传授的唯一课程。
7. 你我的意愿若有所不同，便不可能是天父的旨意。
这表示你已囚禁了自己的意志，撤销了它的自由。
凭你自己，你什么也做不成，因为凭你自己，你什么也不是。
没有天父，我什么也不是；没有我，你什么也不是，因为否认天父等于否认了你自己。
我时时刻刻惦记着你，你对自己的记忆存于我对你的记忆中。
我们对上主的记忆则存于我们对彼此的记忆中。
而你的自由又存于这一记忆中，因为你的自由必存于祂内。
和我同声赞美上主吧！也赞美祂所创造的你。
这是我们献给祂的感恩，而祂会与整个造化一起分享这一礼物的；凡是祂能接受的礼物，都会平等普施所有的人。
因为祂能接受之物，必定属于自由之礼，这也是祂对所有儿女的旨意。
你只有在给人自由之际才能重获自由。
8. 自由，表示你已接纳了上主儿女与上主的本来真相，因此自由是你能献给上主儿女的唯一礼物。
自由就是创造，因为它就是爱。
凡是你有意囚禁之人，你便不可能爱他。
因此，当你有意囚禁任何一人（包括你自己在内），表示你不爱他，也不可能与他认同。
当你囚禁自己时，你便再也认不出你、我以及天父的同一身份。
你的真实身份无法自外于天父与圣子的身份。
你也不可能只认同一位而不认同另一位。
你若属于其中一位，必也属于另一位，因为祂们原是一个。
三位一体的上主之所以如此神圣，乃是基于祂的一体性。
如果你将自己放逐于一体之外，你就会把三位一体视为三个神明了。
三位一体既是一切万有，你的生命必然涵摄于祂内。
除非你接受自己活在祂内的事实，并且完成你那一部分任务，否则三位一体的上主会和你一样若有所失的。
你若想要知道祂的真相，你就不能囚禁祂内任何一个生命。
1.倘使圓滿的平安與喜樂便是上主對你的旨意，若非這是你唯有的體驗，你就必然是在拒絕肯認祂的旨意。
祂的旨意不致搖擺不定，因為它永恆不易。
你若不平安，唯一的理由就是你不相信自己就在上主之內。
然而，上主便是一切的一切。
祂的平安是圓滿的，而你必在其中。
祂的天律掌管了你，因其掌管了一切。
即便你能違反它們，也無法自外於祂的天律。
然而，一旦這麼做，也只有這麼做時，你才會感到孤苦無依，因為你已否定了自己得享一切的權利。
2.這世界已經否定了自己得享一切的權利，而我來此的目的就是為了照亮它。
它僅僅是把自己與一切解離開來，就造成了這種結果。
為此，這是一分離之妄念，背後支撐著的則是對同一孤寂的恐懼——那恰是它的妄念。
我曾說過，即便是天之涯、海之角，我也永遠與你同在。
為此之故，我是那世界之光。
在世間的孤寂中，若有我與你同在，這一孤寂就會煙消雲散。
你若不孤身一人，就難以維繫那孤寂的妄念。
那麼，我的目的仍是要超克這個世界。
我並不攻擊它，但基於世界的本質，我的光必會將它驅散。
光明不會攻擊黑暗，但它會以光照驅散黑暗。
我的光若和你形影不離，你就能與我一同驅散黑暗。
那道光非我們莫屬，而你既然無法在黑暗中棲居，凡你所到之處，黑暗也無法棲居於此。
憶起我，就是憶起自己，乃至於憶起把我送到你面前的那一位。
3.若不是任一部分的聖子奧體徹底完成了上主的旨意，你就會陷入黑暗。
這件事若能完成，表示整個聖子奧體都已完美成就了它。
否則，它又怎能被完美地成就？
我的任務只有一個，就是讓自己覺知到天父的旨意，進而使聖子奧體的心願與祂的旨意合而為一。
我之來此，就是為了替你捎來這一覺知，而你若無法接納，表示這世界也無法接納。
驅散這個問題即是救恩，而在此意義下，我便是世界的救恩。
這個世界必會因此而輕賤並排斥我，因為它向來認定愛是不可能的事。
你若寧願接納我與你同在的事實，就是在否定世界，接納上主。
我的心願便是祂的旨意，而你若決定聽我發言，表示你已決定聽從祂的天音，並安居於祂的旨意。
上主把我送到你這兒來，而我也會把你送往弟兄那兒去。
我會與你同去，以便教導他們平安與合一的道理。
4.你難道不覺得這個世界和你一樣亟需平安？
你既渴望領受平安，難道不會渴望把平安帶給這個世界？
畢竟，你若不這麼做，就無從領受平安。
你若想從我這兒得到它，就得把它給出去。
療癒無法出自他人。
你必須由內接受指引。
這一指引必然是你想要的，否則對你而言就失去了意義。
為此之故，療癒乃是一場相互合作的冒險。
我能告訴你該怎麼做，但你必須與我合作，也就是願意相信我，因為我知道什麼是你該做的。
只有這樣，你的心才會選擇跟隨我。
否則你就無法療癒，因為你會做出與之相悖的決定，而你若排斥我為你做出的決定，療癒就成了天方夜譚。
5.療癒反映了我們的共同心願。
仔細想想它的目的，你就能看個明白。
療癒乃是超克分裂的途徑。
合一可以超克分裂。
分裂則超克不了分裂。
合一的決定必須眾口一致，否則心靈就會分裂而不再完整。
你的心便是你決定自身狀態的工具，因為心靈即是選擇的機制。
藉著它的力量，你得以分裂或者合一，據此體驗痛苦或者喜樂。
我的決定超克不了你的決定，因為你的就和我的一樣強而有力。
否則，上主之子便失去了平等性。
有了我們的共同決定，一切都成了可能，但僅憑我的決定，卻無法幫得上你。
你的心願就和我的一樣自由，即便上主也不願與之對立。
我的意願違反不了上主。
我能獻出自己的力量，以使你無堅不摧，但我若反對你的決定，就無法不與之競爭，進而侵犯上主對你的旨意。
6.上主不論創造了什麼，都違反不了你的決定，因為不論祂創造了什麼，都違反不了祂的旨意。
上主賦予了你的心願力量，而我只能肯認它，以便向祂的力量致敬。
你若想和我一樣，我就會協助你，因為我知道我們並無分別。
你若想和我不同，我則會等著你回心轉意。
我可以教導你，但只有你能選擇聆聽我的教導。
怎能不是如此？畢竟上主的國就是自由之國。
任何型態的獨裁都無法教人學會自由，而一顆心若掌控了另一顆心，就沒有人能認清所有的上主之子都無二無別。
上主之子的心願是平等的，因為它們全都出自天父的旨意。
這就是我要教給你的唯一道理。
7.你的心願若和我的不同，它就不是天父的旨意。
這表示你已囚禁了自己的心願，令它不得自由。
憑你自己，你什麼也做不了，因為憑你自己，你什麼也不是。
沒了天父，我什麼也不是，沒了我，你什麼也不是，因為否定天父便是否定你自己。
我永遠會記得你，而你對自己的記憶取則決於我對你的記憶。
我們對上主的記憶取決於我們對彼此的記憶。
而你的自由則取決於我們對上主的記憶，因為你的自由便在祂內。
那麼，與我一道讚美祂、並讚美你吧，是祂創造了你。
這是我們為祂獻上的感激之禮，而祂亦會將其與一切受造同享，因為祂會把可接受的一切都平等的賜予它們。
既然是祂可接受的，就必是自由之禮，亦是祂對所有聖子的旨意。
一旦獻出自由，你就能得到自由。
8.自由是你能送給上主之子的唯一禮物，因為這肯認了他們的真面目，乃至上主的真面目。
自由便是創造，因為那就是愛。
只要是你企圖囚禁的，你都不愛。
為此，一旦企圖囚禁任何人，包括你自己，你就不愛他們，亦無法與之認同。
一旦你自我囚禁，就看不見你與我，乃至你與天父的真實身分。
你必須同時認同天父與聖子。
認同了一個，就不會不認同另一個。
從屬於其中一個，就必然從屬於另一個，因為祂們就是一個。
三位一體之所以神聖，正因為它一體不二。
你若把自己排除在這一聯盟之外，就會把三位一體視為分裂。
你必須被含括在內，因為三位一體便是一切。
除非你身在其中，並完成你在它內的任務，否則不論是它、或是你，都會受到剝奪。
它的真理若要傳揚，就沒有誰能囚禁得了它的任何一部分。
